Earn achievements and hunt for hidden collectibles. Enjoy concept art, wallpapers, screensavers, and more! Rated 5 out of5 byspythere fromFear the Hunters! What an exceptional and exiting game! It kept me on my toes until the end, and throughout the bonus chapter, too. When I eventually returned to the analogue world, I already heard the first blackbirds chirp their songs of dawn It starts out as a shockingly gross murder, but soon turns into a fantasy surprise bag and a supernatural witch hunt; it's the old tale of false accusation and murder in the name of a hypocritical rightousness. Actually, we hardly can lay the blame on the witches when they become vengeful.Because it's the hunters.
Hunters chase the innocent, pursue minorities, bully the community: unpleasant fear mongers in dark leather coats who threaten with guns, swords and crossbows. Watch out for the treacherous, blood-thirsty glint in their eyes and beware! Those are dangerous ruffians, since they enjoy to kill. Their goal is the killing, not the saving of the world, the purge of evil, or what nonsense they ever will tell you. They shoot first and ask later, if they do ask at all. Now they are on the loose in Amsterdam. And we have even to help this loudmouthed bloke who's name I already forgot.
I was so disappointed that he was not eaten by the giant spider at the end.Until now I didn't know that Amsterdam is inhabited by shapeshifters, too. Originally, they look a bit like an accidental mix of rabbits and elves with sickly red glowing eyes. Their hare-lip covers a pair of neatly pointed fangs - any vampire could become envious. Although an innocent, harmless folk, their appearance is not ordinary enough, and they naturally provide a perfect target for the hunters. We'll have to rescue them several times. But frankly, it's not the story which drives this adventure, it's the gameflow and the pacing. We are constantly challenged with new twists, no time to relax, the next surprises wait already around the corner and thwart any ennui. It seems that Grandma Studios skipped none of the grisly clichees: hands shoot out from the floor, mirrors show grimaces, skeletons suddenly flinch, bats erupt from dark corners, bloody hands smear over window panes.
But the effect is more likely funny, like a ride in the ghost train at the funfair. We can even chose to play “dark” or “light”. With more or less shocking details, I assume (since I couldn't yet bring myself to play light). But I noticed that in the first scene with the body, there is no difference. We see the poor girl skinned and twitching all the same, be it in dark or in light mode.We play as Nathaniel who possesses supernatural abilities due a childhood accident and can “see the unseen”, which is indicated by a glowing mark on his wrist.
He has something smug and looks to me a bit mousy and pallid, lukewarm like a student of theology. He also looks as if he could turn into a rodent any minute.
Maybe he stays too much inside.Puzzles and mini games are mostly not very challenging, but amusing to play. The best parts are the HOPs. A colourful boudoir with cosmetic things, ribbons and hats, a stone carving of a Roman battle, a Native Indian tribe in the museum, a police-office with evidence board. HOPs are thematically arranged, greatly varied, mysteriously encrypted, inventive and entertaining, just as we like them. There is one with Ester de Vires, when she is assaulted by magical snakes at the masquerade.
Everybody is aghast and frightened – but of course there is the one guy who brandishes in midst of the turmoil his smartphone and takes it all up for the social media. I just love this kind of subtle wit.We twice must cut birds out of tangled ropes - a symbolic and slightly disturbing picture. We even have to help the bird in first place, before we can do anything for two men in life danger. Makes somehow sense;) Birds are precious, much too many species on the brink of extinction - whereas humankind spreads in an overpopulation of seven billion By the way: I liked the frightened stammer of de Vires' two body guards, after their rescue. Very credible voice overs.Music was more than the usual shallow audio stream.
Sometimes like suspenseful SFX, working with traffic and industrial noises, sirens, reverberations, ghostly choirs, sometimes like the soundtrack of an expressionistic black and white movie with dramatic tunes, it captured the mood of the game very well. The sound was wisely set, unobtrusive. I never turned it off, which says much about it's quality.
In fact, I even downloaded the tracks - and you know what? Even without game they are surprisingly enthralling, never boring.
Congrats, Yaroslav Shchogla! What I liked best: we encounter several big spiders and creepy-crawly bug infestations - and I had not once to use pesticide! Finally a dev who is intelligent enough to know that our fingers don't fall off if we grab an item next to a spider, or if we brush away a spider's web by hand. This alone is worth a five star rating.EXTRAS:- 10 Wallpapers- 10 Concept Art: nice, but rather bland sketches- 28 (!) Movies. Who wants to watch these, I wonder- 8 interesting soundtracks- 14 achievements, 6 game-related, 1 for slow-playing- 9 HOPs and 9 mini games to play again, and we can measure the time- 1 to 3 hidden symbols per scene, often hard to see and quite a challenge to find them all. But we can go back afterwards and pick up any missed ones.
The complete symbol collection opens a bonus HOP “Murder in the Back Alley” which lasts around 7 minutes. The BONUS CHAPTER plays in 9 scenes, 5 new, 4 old but refurbished. It contains 5 HOPs, 8 mini games and is rather short, less than one hour.We play as Sorell's wife Marjorlaine and break into the museum to gain an artifact which would allow them to become real humans. It contains some interesting HOPs and is the happy end story for shape shifters; endearing, but not really necessary. It has has nothing to do with the main story, but explains how the shapeshifters got the ability to shift their shapes. Rated 5 out of5 bydebiku fromSomething different (without a little helper for once!) Love the detective work game in the contemporary day setting. It still involves magic and mystic creatures but it's a breathe of fresh air after all the games setting in middle age where you are handicapped without the assistance of a magic creature as a little helper. The game play is different and interesting, I was genuinely intrigued by the storyline which is something I haven't experienced for a while.
The games may be a bit too simple and straight forward for some, but overall I think the developer deserves the credit for been creative and different. Rated 5 out of5 byMajestyx12 from3 games- Main and 2 Bonus The 3 games are Witch Hunt, Being Human and New Crime: Murder in the alley.
Witch Hunt is long and the worse is the opening scene as far as gross. But I've seen tv shows that are worse. The scene isn't really gross but the idea of it being so. Not so bad after that. Being Human is regular bonus length.
It's heart warming. The New Crime: Murder in the alley is about 5 minutes. Lots of symbols to collect and some are hard. If you don't find all the symbols you are locked out of bonus New Crime. I went to the collection and hoover over the symbols and if you need to find them you click on it and it will bring you to the scene you need to find the symbol and finish them that way.
Witch Hunt has 7 Chapters. I played in Thriller mode.
It has Hops and I even liked some of the puzzles like match the pairs and the maze puzzle. Skipped the ones I didn't like which was way too many. Loved that it took place in modern Amsterdam and love the view of the water.
I could of been happier without the sound of crows in chapter 5. I kept looking outside to see if they were at my bird feeder and really crows don't crow constantly. I like the supernatural and fantasy games. This game has great flow and by flow I mean your not stuck. Rated 5 out of5 bypennmom36 fromIt'll Make Your Skin Crawl Have you ever watched the movie, The Cell starring JLo?
It was a very bizarre movie, and this game has some of the same features as the movie, so I wasn't totally shocked with the MO of the first victim. The Unseen Fears has raised the bar with their first game, Body Thief, it's a really good game, however, it could have been fantastic, but they just had to introduce fantasy creatures and ruin the direction I thought it was taking.
I don't mind fantasy creatures, when they are in a fantasy themed game, but I really thought this game was going to be a somewhat realistic game about a deranged serial killer. They could have pushed this game a little further to cross the blurred sugar coated lines, and give us an epic, never been done before genre in the BF gaming world. Why can't they? Why don't they? A simple disclosure to e-sign before downloading or purchasing is all they need to present a rated R intense psychological thriller. If that kind of game is offered, I guarantee sales would go through the roof.
So, the bottom line is, this is a good game, but it's really just another game about a paranormal investigator called in to solve a crime. You are given the option to play this game in a sugar coated 'dark' version complete with things that go bump in the night, or an even more sugar coated version where everything in the world is good, because that's what you want to believe, that there's no monster under the bed. I chose to see the things that go bump in the night, so far I saw a spider, and a couple of attempts intended to surprise the gamer with a couple of pop up ghosts. The Amsterdam police have asked for your help to solve what seems to be an unsolvable case. There has been a rash of murders that seems supernatural. All of the victims are void of skin, (and by skin, I mean all tissue because the only thing they show is a skeleton so don't get the heebie jeebies yet) but their clothes remain in tact. Your supernatural ability to see the unseen, is the only way these cases will be solved because these women have been murdered by something very supernatural. You weren't born with this ability, it was given to you as a child, by an archangel, Khepri (or perhaps the mothman) who saved you from drowning.
Khepri taught you how to see what no one else could, but he disappeared one day as quickly as he appeared. Perhaps these cases are related to the disappearance of your cherished mentor, perhaps your search for answers lies within this case.Your Seal is used during the investigation, to activate your supernatural abilities, and see the unseen. Too bad they don't help you 'see' the 77 Hidden Symbols throughout the game, because a lot of them are really difficult to 'see' but that's a good thing!
Your first task is to gather evidence that may help the detective solve the case. I found it kind of funny that you gather the evidence using contaminated tweezers that you found during your investigation.
First of all, shouldn't you be wearing gloves? Shouldn't you have come prepared with your own tools? The Hidden Object Scenes are creative, such as finding the correct objects to ward off your attacker's as described and shown as a Silhouetted Shape. There are also Multiples of Symbols, Silhouetted Shape finds and Zoom Zone listed item finds. Rated 5 out of5 bydesertsombra fromUgliness looking for eternal beauty?
LOL I really like it, always play the Demo. Do not always rely on bad reviews. A little different twist in this story keeping my interest. It also hopefully continues to go smoothly and not get carried away trying to make the expert players happy. I hate when they stagnate a game extremely frustrating puzzles that take 10 to 20 min to figure out. I hate spending more than 6 hours in a game. It is more fun, if you replay a game because it does not take forever.
This game seem to be interesting and to the point. Try it before you buy and enjoy.
I have been many times to Amsterdam, love it. Rated 5 out of5 bybiscuitsmama fromUNSEEN FEARS BODY THIEF IS DIFFERENT AND CREATIVE Unseen Fears Body Thief is one of those games that you will most likely either love or hate. Although I found the storyline rather odd I did like the mix of fantasy and good old-fashioned crime mystery. There is an effort by the developer to bring something new to the table and I appreciate the result. You play the game as an investigator with special psychic abilities. You had a near death experience from drowning as a child and you were rescued by a mystical being you named Khepri.
Over the years he was your only family and your mentor who taught you to see the unseen world. Then one day Khepri vanished and you have been searching for him since that day.The game is technically not the best work by this development team and at time the graphics seemed downright cartoonish. The first scene in the game had me searching my past games because I know I have seen that same warehouse that was most likely recycled from another game. A very creative touch in the game is that at the beginning you make a choice on how realistic, or perhaps graphic you want the game to be. I chose the more realistic mode and personally I didn’t find anything too gross that upset me. Aside from the standard interactive map your tools include a special ability that as a psychic investigator you can use to see what is generally hidden from those with “normal” vision. There is nothing new in the HOPS or the puzzles although there is a great deal of creativity used when looking over and categorizing the information from the crime scene.
That was a nice touch and I did enjoy figuring out exactly what I should do. We have the same building potion mini-game that is quite often used in fantasy type games so there was nothing new with that. All in all there are portions of the game that are quite well designed and do show an attempt at something a bit different. If you prefer the CE version of a game, this one includes spotting 77 symbols that are hidden throughout the game. Standard extras in the game include achievements to earn, a strategy guide and the bonus chapter. Of course you will also find wallpapers, artwork, videos, music, replay of HOPS and puzzles.Unseen Fears Body Thief was a game that I have been waiting for since playing the beta a few months ago. It does have some twists in the plot and I do like the creative touches for solving each crime. It remains to be seen where this game will go as it moves forward.
I generally enjoy the games from this developer and if I can get over the bit of oddity in the story, then it may turn out to be an excellent game. Please try the demo to see if Unseen Fears Body Thief is a game you will enjoy. Rated 5 out of5 byskullfun fromSOLVE A STRING OF STRANGE MURDERS THAT ENVOLVE MAGIC Unusual murders may seem difficult to solve, but they usually contain a lot more clues than a body that simply disappears without a trace.
Naturally, people rarely commit intricate murders that take forever to set up and plan, unless they are in a movie or some kind of video game. Obviously, such crimes are much more exciting to investigate when you play the role of a gifted detective. The Unseen Fears: Body Thief is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of a detective who tackles a weird case regarding a string of unusual murders.
Your goal is to discover the necessary clues in order to pinpoint a suspect, but given the fact that you possess a few unique abilities as well, the whole adventure turns into quite the thrilling pursuit. Thrilling is an understatement in this 5+ adventure. The plot starts with a victim who was apparently skinned alive using fire, yet all of her clothes are intact in spite of the damage. Your goal is to collect the clues around the murder scene and present them to the detective in charge, and the story gets even more intriguing later on.
After being saved from near drowning during your childhood by magical deity, you are given a seal. A special power which gives you the ability to see the 'unseen'. This proves very helpful as you progress thru this fantastic murder mystery. As for the graphics, they are about as detailed as they can get in the genre, and it’s great to see that the artists managed to create such a suspenseful atmosphere using nothing but static artwork. It’s quite a rush to explore some of the scenes, especially thanks to the neat sound effects and great soundtrack. All in all, The Unseen Fears: Body Thief is a very engaging puzzle game, and quite the challenging hidden object game at the same time.
Hence, you can have a lot of fun with it if you enjoy a REALLY good mystery. I loved every minute of this unique game and I love the genre.
